Introduction

Job Purpose: To design, develop, and maintain business systems while analysing sales, production, and operational data to support strategic decision-making. The role bridges IT and commercial functions by ensuring system efficiency, data integrity, accurate forecasting, and alignment between sales, production, and supply chain in a manufacturing environment.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Systems & Sales Analyst   that has arisen in Systems Department at BBF Safety Group in Pinetown, KZN.  The Systems & Sales Analyst will report to the Head of Systems and will have amongst others, the following duties and responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Systems Development & Maintenance

  • Develop, test, and deploy software solutions aligned to manufacturing and commercial processes.
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems (ERP, reporting tools, dashboards).
  • Troubleshoot system issues and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.

2. Systems Integration & Automation

  • Integrate production systems (machines, PLCs, IoT) with business systems (ERP, CRM).
  • Ensure seamless data flow across Sales, Production, Finance, and HR systems.
  • Develop APIs, interfaces, and automation solutions to reduce manual processes.

3. Sales Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse sales performance across products, regions, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Track KPIs such as revenue, volume, margins, and fulfilment.
  • Provide insights on trends, risks, and opportunities.

4. Forecasting & Demand Planning

  • Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts in collaboration with Sales and Production teams.
  • Analyse historical data and market trends to predict demand.
  • Support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
  • Identify supply-demand gaps and recommend corrective actions.

5. Pricing & Profitability Analysis

  • Monitor pricing structures and product profitability.
  • Analyse costs and recommend pricing strategies.
  • Evaluate discounts, rebates, and promotions to ensure margin optimisation.

6. Production & Operational Support

  • Provide technical and analytical support to production teams.
  • Monitor system and operational performance (output, downtime, scrap rates).
  • Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

7. Data Management & Business Intelligence

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of operational and sales data.
  • Develop BI tools and dashboards (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency.

8. Compliance & Security

  • Ensure systems comply with company policies and legislation (e.g. POPIA).
  • Maintain system security, access controls, and audit trails.
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g. ISO 9001).

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Projects

  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, Finance, Supply Chain, and HR teams.
  • Participate in system implementations, upgrades, and digital transformation projects.
  • Document business requirements and technical specifications.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field

2. Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in software development, data analysis, or similar role
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environment (advantageous)
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Syspro, Sage)

Skills & Competencies

1. Technical Skills

  • Programming languages (e.g. C#, Python, Java or similar)
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas, dashboards)
  • Database management (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • API development and system integration
  • Understanding of manufacturing/automation systems (advantageous)

2. Technical Competencies

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Systems thinking (understanding end-to-end production and sales flow)
  • Problem-solving and debugging capability
  • Financial and commercial acumen

3. Behavioural Competencies
