Systems Developer

We are looking for a hands-on Systems Developer & Implementation Specialist to modernise and improve our internal operational systems.

The successful candidate will replace an existing Microsoft Access system, continue development of a Supabase/PostgreSQL-based operational platform , migrate and validate data, implement new functionality, and support the rollout and adoption of the systems across the business.

This role suits someone who can work independently, understand business processes and turn operational requirements into practical, working technology solutions.

This is a 6 month fixed term position. Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

• Strong practical experience with SQL, PostgreSQL and relational database design.

• Experience with Supabase or a similar cloud backend platform.

• Web application development and API integration experience.

• Experience migrating data from Microsoft Access or similar legacy systems.

• Experience with authentication, permissions, testing and deployment.

• Practical experience using AI-assisted coding/development tools.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and business-process skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.

• Able to give examples of systems you have developed or contributed to

Duties and Responsibilities: System Development & Modernisation

• Assess and replace the existing Microsoft Access system with a modern SQL/cloud-based solution.

• Develop and maintain applications using Supabase, PostgreSQL and SQL.

• Design databases, relationships, workflows, reports, dashboards and business rules.

• Develop or integrate APIs and implement authentication, permissions and security.

• Use Git/GitHub and appropriate development standards.

• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Lovable, Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT effectively and responsibly.

Operational Systems Develop and improve functionality across areas such as:

• Inventory and warehouse management

• Asset and serial-number management

• Technical job and field-service management

• Stock movements, transfers and barcode functionality

• Customer assets, repairs, warranties and lifecycle tracking

• Scheduling, job records, photos, stock usage and customer sign-off

• Additional operational workflows as required

Data Migration & Implementation

• Review, clean, map and migrate data from legacy systems.

• Test applications, workflows, data and permissions across desktop and mobile environments.

• Coordinate user acceptance testing and resolve issues.

• Deploy new systems and monitor their adoption.

• Retire legacy systems once replacements are stable and approved.

Business Process & User Support

• Work directly with management and operational teams to understand requirements.

• Map and improve business processes.

• Develop practical solutions based on user feedback.

• Train users and administrators.

• Provide initial implementation support.

Documentation

• Maintain clear technical and user documentation.

• Document database structures, architecture, business rules, permissions, integrations, deployment and backup procedures.

• Maintain complete and up-to-date source-code repositories.
