Datacentrix is supporting our client in looking for a Systems Administrator . A blended role that combines hands-on desktop and infrastructure support with day-to-day systems administration. The right person is a capable intermediate technician ready to grow into full systems administration: strong on the tools now (workstations, networking, wireless, CCTV) and building server, backup/recovery and security skills over time. Security best practice guides all work. The role is fully on-site. Duties & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Desktop and user support: build, install, configure and troubleshoot PCs, laptops, peripherals and printers; OS and software installs, patching and endpoint security; Microsoft 365 and Office support.
- Networking: Fortinet firewalls and switches; HPE Aruba Instant On wireless; point-to-point (PtP) links; IPv4 addressing and basic network topology.
- Surveillance: install and configure Dahua CCTV cameras and NVR/DVR recording from scratch, and maintain related hardware.
- Endpoint and identity: Sophos antivirus and ManageEngine for patching and deployment; manage user accounts and access in Active Directory (with DNS, DHCP and file services) using least-privilege principles.
- Standby, incident response and records: respond within agreed timeframes, log and escalate incidents, and maintain accurate asset, configuration and incident records
- Project work: support IT projects and rollouts (installs, upgrades, site deployments) across the three sites.
Essential Requirements
- Education: Matric (NQF 4) minimum; an IT diploma or degree is advantageous.
- Certifications (advantageous): CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft (including Azure AZ-104), Fortinet NSE, and CompTIA Security+.
- Valid driver's license (essential): with regular travel between the three sites.
- Languages: working Afrikaans and English.
- On-site and standby: fully on-premises (no hybrid or remote); available for rotational 24/7 standby, including weekends and public holidays.
