System Design Engineer

Our client is a leading engineering and manufacturing company specialising in advanced hydraulic systems and custom-engineered solutions for the mining, construction, industrial, material handling, agricultural, and heavy equipment sectors. They are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Systems Design Engineer to join their engineering team and play a key role in the design and development of innovative hydraulic solutions.

The Role As the Hydraulic Systems Design Engineer , you will be responsible for designing hydraulic circuits and systems for specialised mobile and industrial equipment. Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Project Engineers, you will ensure hydraulic systems deliver optimal performance, efficiency, safety, and reliability while meeting customer specifications and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design complete hydraulic systems for mobile and industrial equipment.
• Develop hydraulic circuit diagrams and schematics using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or hydraulic design software.
• Perform hydraulic calculations including:
• Flow rates
• Pressure losses
• Pump sizing
• Cylinder sizing
• Valve selection
• Hydraulic power requirements

• Specify hydraulic components including:
• Pumps
• Motors
• Cylinders
• Directional control valves
• Proportional valves
• Servo valves
• Accumulators
• Filtration systems
• Hydraulic hoses and fittings

• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Perform design reviews and engineering calculations.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams during assembly and testing.
• Support prototype development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field testing.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding technical requirements.
• Conduct failure analysis and recommend design improvements.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, hydraulic safety requirements, and customer specifications.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• 38+ years' experience in hydraulic systems design.
• Strong understanding of fluid power principles and hydraulic system design.
• Experience designing hydraulic circuits for heavy industrial or mobile equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as:
• SolidWorks
• Inventor
• AutoCAD
• Creo
• Siemens NX (advantageous)

• Experience using hydraulic simulation soft
