Supply Chain Head Location: Gauteng Employment Type: Permanent Level: Senior Management

The Role A substantial national distribution business is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Head to lead and optimise its centralised distribution and supply chain function. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the Distribution Centre, warehousing, inventory, logistics, WMS, 3PL providers and fleet , supporting an extensive national branch network. The successful candidate will combine strong strategic supply chain capability with practical operational experience and will have previously played a significant role in establishing, implementing or optimising a centralised distribution model . Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the national supply chain and centralised distribution strategy.

• Drive the efficient operation and continuous improvement of the Gauteng Distribution Centre.

• Optimise inventory levels, stock turns and product availability across the branch network.

• Manage DC performance and KPIs through an effective Warehouse Management System (WMS) .

• Ensure effective integration between the WMS and company ERP systems.

• Develop and improve forecasting, replenishment and inventory management processes.

• Manage and optimise inbound and outbound logistics , including 3PL service providers.

• Develop capability to support imports, exports and project-based supply requirements .

• Review branch and regional warehousing arrangements and identify opportunities for greater efficiency and reduced cost.

• Maintain agreed OTIF service levels while reducing unnecessary stockholding and distribution costs.

• Manage and optimise the company fleet and material-handling assets.

• Establish and monitor cost-to-serve measures to support commercial decision-making.

• Identify and implement supply chain cost-saving and productivity initiatives.

• Lead, mentor and develop DC and supply chain management teams.

• Support the continued growth of the national branch footprint from a supply chain perspective.

• Contribute to broader company strategy and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, or a related discipline .

• 8–10 years' supply chain management experience , including experience at a comparable senior level.

• At least 3 years' senior leadership experience .

• Demonstrated experience in implementing or managing a centralised supply chain and distribution model .

• Strong practical experience across Distribution Centres, warehousing, inventory and logistics .

• Extensive knowledge of WMS systems , including implementation, optimisation, reporting and ERP integration.

• Sound understanding of inventory forecasting, stock turns, OTIF and supply chain performance measures.

• Experience managing 3PL providers and SLAs .

• Strong commercial and financial acumen.

• A strong customer-service orientation combined with a practical, results-driven approach.
