Job Purpose

  • To manage the accounts payable process of entities within the scope processed effectively and efficiently to ensure KPI's are met whilst ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and tax obligations.

The Appointee should

  • NQF 6 Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • At least 3 years' relevant supervisory experience in a financial environment
  • Experience in various financial reporting and/or performance management roles would be advantageous
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Clear credit record
  • Valid driver's license if applicable.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • NQF 7 Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field would be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Accounting Management Ensure provisions and accruals are provided where necessary. Review and perform account reconciliations, analyse and follow up on discrepancies, and review the work done by others to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. Review and process payments of coupa/financial invoices Inter-company and other relevant suppliers. Resolve queries promptly and efficiently. Assist with cost control function for Central Services environment. Page 2 of 7 Conduct analysis and management of cost and variance e.g., budget vs. actuals to identify discrepancies and provide insights into operational performance. Prepare cost reports on expenditure and finalise the monthend. Develop and manage cost allocation methods to ensure accurate attribution of costs to departments, products, or services. Lead and drive cost-saving and cash conservation initiatives to maintain competitiveness on the global cost curve for mining operations. Formulate the annual budget for operational and capital expenditure to support organizational goals. Compile and update the revised budget and forecast expenditure / revenue / capital as per business requirements. Analyse key financial information to provide insights that support managerial planning and commercial decisionmaking Evaluate and monitor cost-volume-profit performance to ensure financial targets are met. Contribute to the development of the overall finance strategy of the organization. Optimize processes and automate workflows to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency. Good knowledge of financial processes and systems. Possess good knowledge and understanding of financial standards, policy, and practice, including relevant International Financial Reporting Standards "IFRS".   • Financial Systems & Reporting Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and presentations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Continuously improve reporting processes by enhancing the quality and clarity of reports. Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required, responding promptly to specific business needs. Produce monthly financial variance analysis actual vs. planned and forecast reports, highlighting key insights and trends. Identify and implement strategies to manage and reduce operational costs, improving overall efficiency. Page 3 of 7 Proactively implement and drive compliance with statutory requirements, SOX controls, regulations, internal policies, work standards, and governance requirements.
  • Stakeholder Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both within the organization and externally, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration. Ensure open and transparent communication channels with all relevant stakeholders to foster trust and alignment. Source, contract, and negotiate with service providers together with Procurement to secure the best value and service quality. Liaise with relevant entities to ensure compliance with environmental management requirements and achieve alignment where applicable. Collaborate with external service providers to design and implement tools that enhance and optimize processes.
  • Financial Management Working Cost Budgets: Ensuring budgeting parameters for the department is in line with business requirements, financial objectives and guidance provided. Approve/Review operational expenditure. Formulate monthly and annual budgets working together with various head of departments, HR and other stakeholders. Cost Savings: Lead and drive cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remain competitive on the global cost curve for mining operations. Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing financial processes, reducing costs, and increasing overall financial efficiency
  • Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
  • ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council WGC Responsible Gold Mining Principles RGMPs. SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability eTfS initiative. US PGM Operations: Enhance together for ICCM principles.
  • SHE Compliance Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. Ensuring financial compliance with regards to SOX and company policy and procedures. Quality Management System QMS: Load and/or approve department's documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System

  • People Management Recruitment: Design the specific Operations' discipline structure to support the achievement of the organisational mandate. Review and approve labour plans around operational targets. Performance Management: Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance. Manage performance and development of reporting staff. Set the specific Operations' discipline performance targets and criteria that align with organisational goals for the team. Employee Relations: Drive the Organisational Culture and Climate within the Business Unit to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and employee safety. Training and Development: Drive a culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement within the specific Operation to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and safety. Mentor individuals to enhance the individual`s knowledge, skills, values and attitude. Create opportunities for development through participation and involvement in new business or technology enhancement projects for team members. Provide coaching to team members on an ongoing basis. Transformation & Sustainability: Drive a culture of Transformation within the specific Operation to ensure organisational sustainability.
