We are recruiting a Student Advisor for a leading private tertiary education group in Sandton, Johannesburg .

This is an exciting career opportunity for an energetic and ambitious individual who wants to develop valuable experience in sales, presentations, relationship management, student recruitment and business development .

This is not a traditional desk-based advisory position. It is a highly interactive, target-driven student recruitment role where you will engage with prospective students and their parents, deliver presentations at schools, generate and follow up leads, conduct student interviews and ultimately convert prospective students into applications and registrations.

The formal role places significant emphasis on presentation targets, proactive prospect engagement, applications and registrations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

School Presentations & Student Engagement

  • Visit targeted high schools and deliver engaging presentations to prospective students.
  • Confidently present to groups of Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners.
  • Communicate the institution's programmes, opportunities and overall value proposition.
  • Distribute relevant marketing information and engage directly with learners.
  • Attend career expos, open days and other student recruitment events.
  • Build positive relationships with schools, students, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Work towards monthly school presentation and engagement targets.

Lead Generation & Follow-Up

  • Generate prospective student enquiries through school presentations, events and other recruitment activities.
  • Follow up consistently with prospective students who have expressed interest.
  • Conduct proactive telephone calls to prospective students.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to online and telephonic enquiries.
  • Schedule individual student interviews and consultations.
  • Maintain regular communication with students throughout the decision-making process.
  • Demonstrate the persistence and tenacity required to convert initial interest into meaningful engagement.

Student & Parent Consultations

  • Conduct professional one-on-one interviews with prospective students.
  • Engage confidently with both students and their parents.
  • Understand the student's interests and education objectives.
  • Provide clear and professional guidance regarding available study options.
  • Build trust and rapport while maintaining a strong commercial and results-focused approach.
  • Encourage prospective students to take the next step in the application process.

Applications & Registrations

  • Assist prospective students through the online application process.
  • Encourage suitable students to complete applications during consultations where appropriate.
  • Follow up incomplete and unpaid applications.
  • Assist in securing the required supporting documentation.
  • Conduct follow-up campaigns to convert interviews into applications.
  • Drive application acceptance, pre-registration payments and final registrations.
  • Contribute towards individual and campus application and registration targets.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of prospective student activity.
  • Update the CRM and relevant student recruitment systems.
  • Maintain call reports, interview booking trackers and other recruitment reports.
  • Ensure student documentation and interview information is complete and accurate.
  • Manage multiple prospective students at different stages of the recruitment process.
  • Provide accurate activity and performance reporting to management.

Minimum Requirements

Non-negotiable requirements

  • Completed 3-year Diploma or Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Own reliable vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence presenting to groups
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability and willingness to work towards clearly defined targets

Candidates with experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, promotions, recruitment, education, events, marketing or other highly people-facing environments may be particularly well suited to the position.

Package & Remuneration

Package & Earning Potential

Basic salary: R20,000 per month

In addition to the monthly salary, the position offers an attractive performance-based incentive structure.

High-performing Student Advisors who achieve their targets can earn up to an additional R20,000 every second month .

The important thing is that the successful candidate should be comfortable with the guaranteed R20,000 monthly salary and view the incentives as genuine additional earnings rather than income required to meet normal monthly commitments.
