This permanent opportunity is suited to an engineering professional with consulting experience and a passion for delivering safe, practical, and cost-effective structural solutions across building and infrastructure projects.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng or BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Structural Engineering.
- At least 3 years of relevant structural design experience within a consulting engineering environment.
- Experience designing reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber structures.
- Proficiency in PROKON SUMO and all PROKON design modules.
- Working knowledge of South African building regulations, SANS standards, and relevant engineering codes.
- Ability to interpret and review architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Experience conducting site inspections and attending site meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse structural systems for building and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Develop practical structural concepts and cost-effective construction solutions.
- Coordinate structural designs with architects and other engineering consultants.
- Conduct site inspections and assess construction quality and compliance.
- Identify structural risks and resolve technical challenges during design and construction.
- Attend project, design, and site meetings.
- Monitor project deliverables against agreed scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable SANS standards and building regulations.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and draughting staff where required.
Advantageous Experience
- Residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, or similar drafting and BIM software.
- Structural assessments, renovations, and remedial works.
