Start free — we apply for you →- We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Storekeeper to join our Business & Industry B&I Catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective receipt, storage, control, and distribution of stock to support seamless catering operations and service excellence within a corporate environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify goods delivered against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Ensure accurate storage of food, beverage, cleaning, and operational supplies.
- Maintain stock control systems and ensure inventory records are updated accurately.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and reconcile variances.
- Issue stock to kitchen and service teams as required.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements timeously.
- Apply FIFO First-In, First-Out stock rotation practices.
- Ensure storerooms, fridges, and freezers are maintained in a clean, orderly, and food-safe condition.
- Assist with ordering, stock forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Adhere to company policies, food safety standards, and health and safety regulations.
Skills and Competencies
- Sound knowledge of stock control principles and inventory management.
- Experience working with food and consumable stock.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office and stock management systems.
- Good numerical and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of handling stock movements where required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Storekeeper, Stock Controller, or Stores-related role within catering, hospitality, retail, or food service environments.
