Introduction

Our client, a global engineering and construction company is currently seeking to appoint two Storemen to join a large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) project in Postmasburg, Northern Cape. This is a project-based contract until November 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect and verify incoming materials, equipment, tools and spares.
  • Ensure correct binning, labelling and storage of materials.
  • Issue materials and equipment in accordance with project procedures.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels.
  • Conduct stock counts, cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Monitor stock movements and report discrepancies, shortages or damaged items.
  • Maintain accurate receiving and issuing documentation.
  • Assist with the control of tools, PPE, consumables, equipment and spares.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organisation within the stores area.
  • Operate material-handling equipment when required.
  • Comply with all project HSE requirements and procedures.
  • Support the Stores Supervisor with general stores and materials-management activities.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working as a Storeman, Stores Clerk, Warehouse Assistant or similar.
  • Experience working on large construction, mining, power, renewable energy or EPC projects.
  • Experience with inventory control, receiving, issuing and stocktaking.
  • SAP or other ERP system experience - preferred.
  • Forklift / material-handling equipment certification – preferred.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements (OHSA).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
