Storeman / Warehouse Inventory Controller

Introduction

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and physically fit Storeman to join our team at the Isando Depot. The

successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operations of our warehouse, ensuring accurate stock

control, secure storage, and the efficient dispatch and receipt of goods. This role requires an individual

who is meticulous with paperwork, adheres strictly to safety protocols, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial

environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

 Receiving & Dispatching: Receive incoming stock/materials, verify delivery notes against physical

items (quantity and quality), and process outgoing dispatches accurately.

 Inventory Control: Perform regular cycle counts, weekly stock takes, and annual audits to ensure zero

stock variance. Report any discrepancies or damaged items immediately.

 Storage & Housekeeping: Organize and pack inventory into designated bin locations according to

warehouse standards (FIFO/LIFO where applicable). Maintain a clean, neat, and hazard-free depot

environment.

 Documentation: Accurately complete all warehouse paperwork (GRNs, picking slips, delivery notes)

and update the internal warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP.

 Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) guidelines

regarding safe stacking, lifting techniques, and the handling of materials.

 Loading & Unloading: Assist with the safe loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, using material

handling equipment where required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric / Grade 12).

 Experience: 2–3 years of proven experience working as a Storeman or Warehouse Assistant within a

logistics, manufacturing, or depot environment.

 Equipment: A valid forklift license (Counterbalance/Reach Truck) is highly advantageous.

 Systems: Basic computer literacy (MS Excel, Outlook); prior experience using inventory systems like

SAP, Syspro, Pastel, or a similar WMS is a strong plus.

 Locality: Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near the East Rand / Ekurhuleni region

(Isando, Kempton Park, Tembisa, Boksburg) with reliable transport to the depot.

KEY COMPETENCIES & SOFT SKILLS

 Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting and extended periods of

standing or walking.

 Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to counting inventory and checking serial numbers/batch

codes.

 Reliability: Excellent attendance record, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

 Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with drivers,

suppliers, and internal teams.
