  • Tsebo is seeking for a Storeman to ensure effective receiving, storage, issuing, safeguarding, and control of all food, beverage, cleaning, and operational stock within the unit. The Storeman plays a critical role in maintaining stock accuracy, minimizing wastage, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with Tsebo standards, food safety requirements, and client expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory and Stock Management

  • Receive all stock deliveries and verify quantities, quality, and specifications against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Ensure all stock is captured accurately on relevant inventory systems.
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively alert management of low-stock items.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and cycle counts.
  • Investigate and report stock variances, shortages, and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock movement reports.
  • Control stock transfers between departments and units.
  • Monitor product shelf life and manage stock rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Identify, record, and report damaged, obsolete, or expired stock.

Receiving and Dispatching

  • Coordinate the loading and offloading of deliveries.
  • Ensure all deliveries comply with food safety, quality, and procurement standards.
  • Report rejected stock and supplier non-conformances to management.
  • Prepare and issue stock according to authorized requisitions.
  • Verify issued quantities and obtain signatures for stock issued.

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain food storage areas according to HACCP and Tsebo food safety requirements.
  • Monitor temperature records for relevant storage facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and quality management systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of storage facilities to maintain standards.
  • Ensure all products are correctly labelled and stored.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where required.

Cost Control and Waste Management

  • Support cost-saving initiatives through effective stock control practices.
  • Minimize food waste and stock losses through continuous monitoring.
  • Monitor high-value stock items and report unusual consumption patterns.
  • Assist management with inventory forecasting and budget control.
  • Recommend improvements to stock handling and storage procedures.

Administration and Reporting

  • Complete all stock-related documentation accurately and timeously.
  • Maintain filing systems for invoices, delivery notes, stock counts, and requisitions.
  • Generate weekly and monthly stock reports.
  • Assist with month-end stock reconciliations.
  • Capture supplier information and maintain stock records for audit purposes.
  • Compile variance and wastage reports for management review.

Operational Support

  • Liaise with chefs, supervisors, and management to ensure stock availability.
  • Support catering operations during peak periods when required.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of stock requirements for functions and special events.
  • Ensure cleaning materials, consumables, and operational supplies are available at all times.
  • Respond promptly to stock-related queries from internal stakeholders.

Asset and Security Management

  • Ensure stores remain secure and access is restricted to authorized personnel.
  • Safeguard company assets and inventory against loss or damage.
  • Monitor storage conditions and report maintenance issues.
  • Ensure store equipment is used correctly and maintained in good working order.
  • Support investigations relating to stock losses or shrinkage.

General Duties

  • Maintain housekeeping standards in all storage areas.
  • Adhere to all Tsebo policies, procedures, and values.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects within the unit.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Inventory and stock control management.
  • Knowledge of FIFO, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
  • Computer literacy MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using inventory or ERP systems.
  • Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
  • Report generation and document management.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Matric.
  • Certificate in Stores Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field will be advantageous.
  • 2-3 years' experience as a Storeman or Stock Controller.
  • Experience within Catering, Hospitality, Food Services, FMCG, or Contract Catering environments
