Introduction

To manage the receiving, storage, issuing, and control of electrical construction and reticulation materials and equipment (cables, poles, transformers, fittings, tools, PPE, etc.), ensuring accurate stock records, security of stock.

Duties & Responsibilities

Receiving & Booking In

  • Receive deliveries of materials, equipment, and tools from suppliers and offload/unpack safely
  • Check deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes, and packing lists for correct quantity, description, and quality
  • Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the Procurement/Stores Supervisor
  • Capture received stock accurately onto the stock system (manual or electronic)
  • Label, code, and store materials in designated locations for easy identification and retrieval

Issuing & Booking Out

  • Issue materials, tools, and equipment to site teams, technicians, and subcontractors against approved requisitions/job cards
  • Ensure all issues are signed for and correctly recorded (item, quantity, project/cost code, recipient)
  • Track tools and equipment issued for return, following up on outstanding items
  • Ensure materials are allocated to the correct project/cost centre for accurate job costing

Stock Control & Stocktakes

  • - Maintain accurate, up-to-date stock records (bin cards, stock system, spreadsheets)
  • - Conduct regular cycle counts and full stocktakes; investigate and report variances
  • - Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels and flag re-order requirements
  • - Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock and report to management
  • - Maintain FIFO (first-in-first-out) stock rotation where applicable

General Store Management

  • Keep the store/yard clean, organized, and safe at all times
  • Ensure proper storage of sensitive materials (e.g., cable drums, transformers, meters) to prevent damage or theft
  • Assist with loading/offloading of materials for site deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records of returns, damaged stock, and scrap materials
  • Support with basic administration: filing delivery notes, GRNs, requisitions, stock reports
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements, including safe handling of electrical materials and equipment

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualification

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
  • Certificate/course in Stores Management, Logistics, or Inventory Control advantageous

Experience

  • 1–3 years' experience in a stores/warehouse role, preferably within electrical, construction, or engineering environment
  • Experience working with electrical materials (cables, conduit, fittings, poles, transformers, etc.) advantageous

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic computer literacy (MS Excel, stock/inventory systems)
  • Good numerical and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to operate manual/electric pallet jacks or forklifts (forklift license advantageous)
  • Knowledge of stock control principles (FIFO, min/max levels, cycle counting)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Physically fit — able to lift and move materials

Package & Remuneration

R10 000.00 - R15 000.00 CTC pm.
