Storeman

Introduction

The Storeman is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, control, and issuing of stock within the company to ensure smooth operational and production processes. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring materials are properly organised, stored safely, and easily accessible when required. The Storeman receives deliveries, verifies goods against purchase orders, and reports any discrepancies or damages timeously. In addition, the role includes issuing stock to relevant departments, preventing wastage, and ensuring stock movement is properly recorded at all times. The Storeman also supports stock counts and audits, maintains cleanliness and order in the store area, and ensures compliance with company procedures and safety standards to promote effective stock control and operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Stores / Warehouse Duties

• Receive and check stock against supplier/customer paperwork.

• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately.

• Ensure correct documentation is attached to all orders.

• Dispatch deliveries timeously and accurately.

• Assist with stock counts and maintain accurate stock records.

• Report any damages, shortages, breakages, or negligence immediately.

• Keep the stores area clean, organised, and safe.

• Assist with general branch and operational duties when required.

Internal Sales / Branch Support Duties

• Assist with customer communication when required.

• Process customer orders accurately and promptly.

• Assist with basic quotations and sales support.

• Respond to emails and branch enquiries.

• Complete call logs and customer follow-ups.

• Communicate important customer feedback internally.

• Support the branch team with general admin and sales-related tasks.

Deliveries

• Assist with customer deliveries when needed.

• Ensure goods are delivered safely, correctly, and with the correct paperwork.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12.

• Valid Driver’s Licence is compulsory.

• Basic knowledge of electrical products will be an advantage.

• Previous stores, warehouse, counter sales, or internal sales experience will be beneficial.

• Computer literacy.

• Good communication and telephone skills.

• Good attention to detail.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Honest, reliable, and willing to learn.

• Must be able to work well with a team.

• Must be flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the branch.

• 1–3 years’ experience in stores, warehousing, electrical sales, internal sales, or a related field.

• Electrical switchgear or electrical wholesale experience will be an advantage.

Package & Remuneration
