Start free — we apply for you →- Our Client, a well-established and growing KZN-based food retailer, is seeking an experienced Store Manager to take full operational and commercial responsibility for a busy retail outlet. This is a hands-on management position suited to a commercially astute leader who understands retail, people, stock and profitability.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Matric and Diploma, B-Tech or equivalent qualification in Retail Management is advantageous
- Minimum 5 years' management or supervisory experience within FMCG or food retail
- Butchery experience would be highly advantageous
- Proven experience managing sales, stock, costs and store performance
- Strong numerical, analytical and computer skills, including MS Office and POS/stock systems
- Knowledge of food safety, occupational health and safety and South African labour legislation; butchery experience will be an advantage
- Own car essential
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall accountability for the store's sales, profitability, expenses, margins and daily performance
- Lead, motivate and develop the store team to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve targets
- Manage stock ordering, availability, rotation, wastage and inventory accuracy
- Analyse sales, GP%, KPIs and operational information to identify opportunities and improve results
- Implement pricing, promotions, merchandising and marketing initiatives to maximise turnover and market share
- Maintain rigorous food safety, hygiene, quality, temperature control and cold-chain standards
- Ensure the correct handling, storage, labelling and presentation of meat and other products
- Manage cash, banking, invoices, credits, returns, expenses, equipment and store administration
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour, employment equity, OHS, food safety and retail legislation
- Work closely with production, factory, HR and senior management to ensure operational continuity and sustainable store growth
