Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Steel Fabrication Sales Representative to join their team. The role combines technical knowledge of steel fabrication with sales, estimating, customer relationship management and business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate quotations, interpreting technical drawings, supporting customers and proactively generating new business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations and estimates for steel fabrication projects based on customer requirements, drawings, specifications and measurements.
- Read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings to accurately determine the scope of work.
- Liaise with customers regarding quotations, orders, project progress, lead times and delivery requirements.
- Assist walk-in customers by identifying their requirements and recommending suitable steel products and fabrication solutions.
- Conduct cold calling and proactive business development to secure new customers within the steel fabrication market.
- Re-engage previous and inactive customers to generate repeat business and new opportunities.
- Follow up consistently on quotations and enquiries to improve conversion into confirmed orders.
- Work closely with the workshop and fabrication team to ensure customer specifications, requirements and deadlines are met.
- Assess material requirements, dimensions, quantities and fabrication specifications to support accurate estimating.
- Maintain accurate records of customer enquiries, quotations, orders and follow-ups.
- Deliver professional customer service throughout the quotation, order and delivery process.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Valid driver's licence.
- 0–2 years' relevant experience.
- Experience or exposure to sales, estimating or steel fabrication.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings.
- Good understanding of measurements, materials and fabrication requirements.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong sales and relationship-building ability.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to cold calling and new business development.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and workshop/fabrication teams.
