Purpose of Job

  • Manage the interface between Sasol, Service Providers and the Community to foster a healthy and enabling relationship which allows Sasol to be able to recruit local skills required for Sasol's megaprojects, Scheduled maintenance Shutdown and other Ops projects

Key Accountabilities

  • Proactively identify and analyse emerging issues in the local political, labour and civil society environment where Sasol can leverage good publicity and address reputational matters and concerns.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement operational plans and programmes in line with Regional Stakeholder Engagement Strategy
  • Manage Relations with the various Stakeholder Forums and influence positive interaction with Sasol.
  • Assist in opening doors for the Resourcing and recruitments plans for the Megaprojects focused on Semi skilled labour
  • Conduct environment scanning to ensure that the business is always abreast of what is happening in the region
  • Identify and Establish engagement platforms suitable for the stakeholder issues to be aired
  • Support Sasol Mining in the execution of SLP Projects in the region
  • Provide valuable support interfacing with Security, Police and Community leaders during protest marches and disruptions, providing critical support to the management of the crisis.
  • Oversee the development and management of stakeholder portal and oversee regular capacity building for end users
  • Contribute in the development of the public and regulatory affairs Local community engagement strategies and objectives
  • Develop and maintain relevant stakeholder engagement roadmaps and calendars.
  • Evaluate and develop engagement plans to engage local communities, provincial municipalities, local and provincial government departments, NGOs, Unions and other stakeholders in support of socio –economic transformation, reduction of youth unemployment and other social challenges.
  • Assist the business in securing some of the required licenses for the Operation and render support for Operating Licenses are renewed on time.
  • Assist to interpret new Labour Relations regulations for the Operations and assist in external employment disputes
  • Using Group approved techniques and tools, design, implement and manage external and internal research projects to provide analysis and recommendations based on evolving Stakeholder needs and trends.
  • Conduct in-depth geo and socio political analyses to understand the broader socio political environment in which the company operates; intimate understanding of political and public sentiment formation and articulation.
  • Proactively identify and analyse emerging issues in the local political, labour and civil society environment where Sasol can leverage good publicity and address reputational matters and concerns.
  • Develop and implement an operational plan in line with the Regional Stakeholder Engagement, Policy and Regulatory Strategy.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and regulatory interventions as required.
  • Delivery of projects on schedule and on or under budget. Delivery of project as per the operational plan.
  • Build capacity and share expertise with internal and external interfaces

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor's Degree

Working Experience

  • 6+ relevant years
