Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa HPCSA as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist.
  • Current registration with HPCSA. Experience Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. One-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a physiotherapist in respect of South African qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa. Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Computer literacy Ms Word, Excel, Power Point. Knowledge of relevant legislations and related legal and ethical practices, PFMA and Public Service Act and regulations.
  • Good written and communication skills. Ability to interact with patients, therapists and family/public. Ability to interact with the multidisciplinary team. Good time management and communication skills. Good interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure. Willingness to travel within the West Rand District Health Services. A valid driver's license.

Duties

  • Provide speech and audiology services to patients in the primary health care. Contribute to the development of the programme, collect, analyze and submit data monthly.
  • Implement health promotion, campaigns and screening in the facility and community. Implement quality care to patients. Promote and implement ongoing training, research /project.
  • Attend to all relevant meetings and contribute effectively. Implement performance management system in the programme. Adhere to all policies and protocols of the department. Manage the workload of the manager when absent. Manage assistive devices and assets of the programme.
