MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • The main purpose of this position is to supply a support service to the engineering team in terms of improving availability, identifying root causes of failures and implementing counter measures to prevent failures and thereby increase / sustain plant throughput.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB

  • In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the engineering team at MMC and play an important role in working closely with various engineering teams and other departments to achieve the desired equipment uptime and efficiency by making use of data analysis and other techniques CMMS, RCM and RCA to determine the best solution and to implement corrective strategies and actions. This position is a great opportunity for the incumbent to display their skills in reliability engineering. The job requires a self-starter, an energetic individual and a doer.
  • MMC operates on a 24hr/365day basis. Success in this role happens through effective utilisation of staff and equipment in the working environment. Work planning and risk assessments will form part of your daily routine.

JOB OBJECTIVES

  • Investigating failures. Perform Root Cause Analysis to minimise downtime, prevent re-occurrences and to ensure a zero-harm environment.
  • Identify, initiate and execute plant modifications
  • Record and report back on maintenance Tribology and vibration analysis related statistics
  • Provide major shutdown assistance to the plant
  • Keep abreast with the latest technology and changes in the engineering field
  • Implement and maintain the fuel, lubricant, air and lubricant quality management plant wide.
  • Adherence and Compliance to all HSEQ legislation, policy & procedures; at all times
  • Leading Successful high performing teams.
  • Adhere to section cost control measures, leading to improved efficiencies

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Heavy Current, or Industrial Engineering
  • Computer literacy
  • Code 8 Drivers License
  • 4 years working experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering field in a heavy industrial environment.
  • At least 1 year in a reliability role
