Currently looking for a qualified or newly qualified (Completed Comserve) SONOGRAPHER.

A Sonographer performs diagnostic procedures using sonographic equipment. Their duties include preparing patients, explaining the procedure to the patient and performing the procedure and post procedure duties.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and operate the daily operations and supervision of the radiology ultrasound departments

• Explain ultrasound procedures to patients, record relevant medical history, and reconcile and collect required data.

• Bookings for radiography procedures, etc.

• Picking up/receiving job cards for radiological duties,

• Radiological duties – An ultrasound scan of the patient, report findings to Radiologist, etc.

• Assisting Radiologists with procedures as required,

• Receiving patients from reception,

• Perform various technical procedures requiring independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative.

• A professional demeanour whilst performing all exams, general and vascular.

• Work with other technologists and radiologists to perform procedures with quality images

• Assisting patients from reception to change rooms and various scanning/x-raying rooms and back again,

• Positioning of patients for procedures to be done,

• Quality assurance of procedures done,

• Contributing to the efficient running of the department, keeping it clean and organized.

• Routine daily equipment checks; if there are technical problems, report them to the departmental head.

• Administrative duties as required - answering telephones, making bookings, following up on reports, printing and labelling x-ray results/scans, etc.

• Capture optimal images to complete detailed written reports for radiologists to interpret

• Other ad hoc duties as reasonably expected by Chief Radiologists and the Practice.

Desired Experience & Qualification

EDUCATION

• National Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography with BTech Ultrasound or BRad. Ultrasound.

• Registration at the HPCSA

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in sonography is essential.

• Capacity to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation.

• At least one year’s experience as a Sonographer.

KNOWLEDGE

The ability to set high-performance standards for self and others and assume the overall responsibility and accountability for the successful completion of assignments or tasks.

Package & Remuneration

Offer between R 40 000 and R 60 000 per month
