Detail: The Role: You will provide strategic technical direction, manage multiple teams, and ensure their technology platforms are resilient, scalable and secure. You'll be a strategic partner to the product head, providing end-to-end technical leadership, building high-performing teams, and driving product and platform architecture. This is an opportunity to shape a critical technology environment, influence modern engineering practices at scale, and lead teams through a meaningful cloud and platform transformation journey. What you'll do: Provide end-to-end technical leadership across product/platform delivery, system health, engineering standards, support and maintenance. Build and lead high-performing software teams, create the conditions for predictable delivery and drive continuous improvement. Set the standards for how code is deployed across pipelines, ensure system reliability and drive modern engineering and platform practices Work closely with architects to shape solutions and define how those solutions need to be implemented — while architecture remains a specialist discipline, you will need the technical depth to challenge, guide and shape implementation decisions Oversee IT governance across the teams Drive technology modernisation across the team Through cloud computing, AWS, event-driven architecture, automation and platform engineering practices. Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the business Technical skills: Their technology modernisation requires a thorough understanding of cloud computing, AWS, event-driven architecture, automation and platform engineering practices. Specifically, you'll need: Strong cloud computing knowledge — AWS is our enterprise platform, so AWS experience makes the biggest difference) A solid grasp of event-based architecture, the patterns used, how distributed systems work and observability An understanding of architecture and technical strategy — enough to shape solutions and engage with architects at a senior level Leadership and management: Proven ability to lead, develop and grow multidisciplinary engineering teams Strong delivery management — you set the pace and remove the blockers Experience driving reskilling and team transformation Confident stakeholder management, with the ability to engage across technical and business audiences Experience: You'll need at least 8 years of software engineering experience, with 3–5 of those in an engineering leadership or technical management role. You should have experience leading multidisciplinary teams, delivering cloud-native solutions (preferably AWS), working with event-driven architecture and managing stakeholders.​ Demonstrated experience with event-driven and distributed architectures in high-volume or highly integrated environments. Experience improving engineering maturity through DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code and platform practices. Qualifications: Minimum: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related Engineering discipline. Certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud foundation certification. AWS Solutions Architect strongly preferred. Preferred Honours degree or relevant postgraduate qualifications FinOps, DevOps, Security, TOGAF, SAFe and Kubernetes certifications advantageous.
