Job Title: Software Development Manager: Cash Devices Start Date: 2026-08-28 - 2026-09-27 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB000956 Sectors: Information Technology Location: Western Cape , Cape Town Salary: (Market related) Brief: atm|cash devices|postilion|sdm|software development manager One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Software Development Manager with a strong ATM experience to join their team. Detail: What you will do: Lead multiple ATM technology delivery teams responsible for ATM applications and services. Drive solution design, architecture governance, engineering standards and delivery quality. Ensure system availability, performance, resilience and security across a critical banking channel. Oversee software development, enhancements, maintenance and production support. Lead major incident management, root cause analysis and recovery activities. Build and develop high-performing technical delivery teams through coaching and mentoring. Manage vendor relationships, technical roadmaps and delivery outcomes. Partner with product, technology and business stakeholders to deliver strategic objectives. Partner with the Product Head to translate the strategic product roadmap into executable delivery plans, release forecasts, milestones and team-level execution priorities across the cash-devices technology portfolio. Lead agile planning practices with the team, translating prioritised business features into delivery-ready team epics and, through iterative refinement, clear user stories, while managing dependencies, capacity, sprint and release planning, and delivery tracking. Drive engineering best practices including secure coding, code reviews, CI/CD and production readiness Essential Experience 8+ years of direct ATM domain experience. Proven experience within ATM delivery, support and operational environments. Strong technical delivery leadership experience within a banking or financial services environment. Proven ability to build high-performing technical delivery teams through coaching, mentoring, capability development, succession planning and career growth initiatives. Experience leading technical teams in an agile delivery environment, including translating strategic roadmaps into delivery plans, decomposing prioritised features into team epics and user stories, forecasting delivery, managing dependencies and tracking execution. Experience managing critical production systems and high-availability platforms Critical technical expertise: ATM Technologies ATM transaction lifecycle ATM application architecture Device integrations ATM deployment and estate management Production support and device availability Experience with established ATM manufacturer platforms; NCR SelfServ and Diebold Nixdorf are preferred, while experience with GRG, Hyosung or other enterprise ATM estates will also be considered Terminal Applications Device Platforms: Experience with the implementation, support, configuration, enhancement or delivery of terminal application platforms within a banking or self-service environment. Examples include: NCR AANDC / NDC / NDCe Diebold Agilis / VCP Self-service banking platforms ATM, cash recycler, cash deposit and assisted-service solutions Other vendor terminal application platforms Postilion (Essential): Experience with: Postilion ATM Switching Terminal Drivers ATM Application Integration ISO8583 Messaging Routing and Transaction Flows Transaction Debugging Postilion Configuration Experience with Postilion ATM App and/or Postilion SDK Development will be highly advantageous. Delivery & Planning Leadership Translation of the Product Head's strategic roadmap into executable delivery plans, milestones, release forecasts and team-level priorities Practical application of agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban and scaled agile practices where appropriate Release planning, forecasting and delivery tracking Working from the Product Head's prioritised backlog and partnering with the team to decompose business features into delivery-ready team epics and progressively refined user stories Dependency, risk and issue management Capacity and resource planning Vendor and cross-functional delivery coordination Stakeholder management and executive reporting Technology Engineering & Integration Proficiency in programming and scripting languages appropriate to the technology environment API Integrations Enterprise Integration Patterns Architecture Governance Secure Coding Practices CI/CD Principles Technical Design Reviews and Code Reviews Production Resilience & Security Incident Management Root Cause Analysis Problem Management Disaster Recovery Performance analysis and optimisation Production Monitoring ATM Security Principles Encryption Concepts PCI DSS and PCI PIN Standards Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. Preferred Honours Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field Advantageous experience: NCR NDCe development and Builder experience Multi-vendor ATM environments (NCR, Diebold, GRG, Hyosung) Digital and omnichannel banking platforms API and event-driven architecture Kafka and event streaming Cash recycler and deposit automation solutions Azure, Kubernetes, DevSecOps and modern cloud engineering practices What's in it for you?
