We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Developer II to join our technology team on a 12-month contract commencing 1 October 2026 . The successful candidate will be responsible for translating solution designs into high-quality software through programming, configuration, workflow automation, and integration development. The role includes mentoring junior developers, contributing to architectural decisions, and delivering robust, scalable, and maintainable business process automation solutions.
This position is ideal for a software professional with strong experience in IBM BPM/BAW or Camunda , Java/Spring Boot , microservices architecture , and event-driven integration using Kafka/Confluent .
Job Purpose
To realise detailed solution designs through software development, workflow automation, configuration, and integration while providing technical guidance and mentoring to software developers within the team.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Delivery
- Produce high-quality, maintainable software solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Develop critical and complex technical components within designated areas of accountability.
- Deliver robust, fault-tolerant system component designs for large-scale enterprise systems.
- Develop scalable, observable, reusable, and supportable software solutions.
- Build and maintain Java-based applications, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Design, model, deploy, and support workflow automation solutions using IBM BPM/BAW or Camunda.
Workflow Automation & Process Orchestration
- Model and implement BPMN and DMN workflows using IBM BPM/BAW or Camunda.
- Develop external task workers and workflow integrations.
- Integrate workflows with custom user interfaces and enterprise applications.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve workflow incidents and operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and optimization.
Integration & Platform Engineering
- Design and implement event-driven integrations using Kafka or Confluent.
- Publish and consume events across enterprise platforms.
- Develop deployment artefacts and manage releases through CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Engineering Leads to optimise software delivery processes.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop unit, integration, system, and performance test cases.
- Conduct testing and quality assurance activities to ensure production readiness.
