Start free — we apply for you →ROLE PURPOSE Provide day‑to‑day site supervision and construction oversight of all Structural, Mechanical, Platework and Pipework (SMPP) contractors, ensuring that works are executed safely, to approved drawings, specifications and construction standards. The SMPP Clerk of Works ensures interface between disciplines and contractors is proactively managed so that the project schedule, quality and cost objectives are achieved. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and monitor all structural, mechanical, platework and pipework contractors on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes and construction standards. Manage multi‑discipline and multi‑contractor interfaces, sequencing and access to work fronts to eliminate clashes, standing time and rework, and keep the construction schedule on track. Conduct daily site walkdowns and verify workmanship, setting out, erection tolerances, alignment, bolt‑up, torquing, pipe spool fit‑up and support installation. Review and interpret structural and piping isometric drawings, GA drawings, P&IDs and 3D models (Navisworks), and identify design, constructability and clash issues for timely resolution with the Package Engineer and Construction Manager. Monitor contractor resourcing, plant, equipment, lifting studies and productivity against programme, and escalate deviations, delays and recovery requirements to the Construction Manager. Verify contractor daily diaries, progress claims, measured work quantities, material deliveries and free‑issue material usage. Enforce all SHE requirements on the work front, including permit to work, lifting operations, working at height, hot work, confined space and isolation requirements, and stop unsafe work. Support the QA/QC function by facilitating inspections, hold points, ITP sign‑offs, NDT, hydrotesting and closure of NCRs and punch list items. Participate in constructability reviews, look‑ahead planning meetings, daily coordination meetings and contractor progress reviews. Manage site queries, technical queries, site instructions and variations, and maintain accurate site records, photographs and progress documentation. Drive mechanical completion, systems turnover, walkdowns and punch listing in support of pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities. Compile and submit daily and weekly progress, deviation and interface reports to project management.
