Job Description

  • A well-established and respected tyre retail and service business in Mthatha is seeking an experienced and hands-on Shop Manager to lead its operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader with strong automotive or retail management experience who is passionate about customer service, operational excellence, and driving business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the tyre shop, ensuring efficient workflows and excellent service delivery.
  • Lead, supervise, schedule, and develop the shop team to maximise productivity and performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving enquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Oversee tyre fitting, balancing, wheel alignment, and related workshop services to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Drive sales growth by promoting tyres, services, and value-added products.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Manage inventory, stock levels, stock rotation, and product displays.
  • Ensure workshop equipment and tools are properly maintained and operational.
  • Monitor daily cash handling, expenses, and financial performance.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales, stock, and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support local marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to increase customer traffic and sales.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven management experience within the automotive, tyre, or retail industry.
  • Previous experience managing a tyre fitment centre or automotive service workshop will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of tyre products, fitment services, and industry practices.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing stock, budgets, and sales performance.
  • Good financial and business acumen.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within an automotive environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
