Start free — we apply for you →- We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to take ownership of the international ordering, supplier coordination and inbound shipping process through to the destination port.
- This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing international business operating across multiple African markets, specialising in mining chemicals, industrial products and metallurgical solutions. Working with a diverse global supplier network, you will gain valuable exposure to international procurement, shipping, supply chain and commercial operations, while playing a key role in ensuring the smooth and timely movement of products to customers across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international supplier orders from placement through to shipment.
- Obtain and review supplier confirmations and proforma invoices.
- Maintain accurate order and shipment trackers and monitor delivery timelines.
- Liaise with international suppliers regarding availability, production, lead times and shipment readiness.
- Coordinate inbound international shipments through to the destination port.
- Monitor vessel schedules, shipping milestones and expected arrival dates.
- Liaise with freight, shipping and clearing partners.
- Ensure shipping, supplier and import documentation is accurate and complete.
- Identify and resolve documentation discrepancies and potential delays.
- Work closely with Commercial, Finance, Operations and Logistics teams.
- Provide regular order and shipment updates to management.
- Support supplier onboarding and relationship management.
- Develop and improve processes for order and shipment tracking.
- Proactively identify supply chain risks and implement solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
- Experience in international procurement, supply chain, logistics, imports/exports or supplier coordination.
- Experience working with international suppliers or manufacturers.
- Good understanding of purchasing and supplier order processes.
- Exposure to import/export documentation and customs requirements.
- Knowledge of Incoterms would be advantageous.
- Ocean freight experience is advantageous but not essential – training will be provided.
- Experience with chemicals, dangerous goods, mining, industrial products or regulated cargo will be highly advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and excellent administrative skills.
International Exposure
- The successful candidate will work with suppliers across China, India, Europe, the United States, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
