Start free — we apply for you →PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Implementation of corporate’s milestone by ensuring compliance with regulatory and other requirements through identification of best practical Environmental practices. SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY: • Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.) • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status. PEOPLE: Manage the Section: • Ensure an enabling climate/culture • Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover • Labour complement in line with budget • Achieve the set EE targets • Manage performance against set targets and competencies • Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan • Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.) • Coaching and mentoring of subordinates to ensure improved performance levels • Conduct recruitment interviews. CUSTOMERS: • Ensure Customer Satisfaction • Liaise with all interested and affected parties (Local, Provincial, and National authorities, regulatory bodies, NGO’s, etc.) • Build and maintain relations with all key stakeholders • Represent the company on external committees • Key Customers: Shareholders, Corporate, All Employees, Business Units, Local Communities, Local, Provincial and National Government. BUSINESS PROCESSES: Environmental Strategy: • Implement Corporate’s and Business Unit’s Environmental strategy and Action plans • Monitor and keep up to date with changes to Environmental strategies, legislation, and other requirements • Implement Environmental Management Master Plan at the Business Units • Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices • Lead on sustainable procurement of all environmental goods and services. SHEQ Management: • Monitor and maintain full compliance and alignment of Business Units to: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Environmental Management: • Advise management and other key internal stakeholders on environmental legal liabilities and environmental requirements • Ensure that the BU complies with rules and regulations, standards, and norms • Ensure that the BU conforms to self-regulatory tools and other applicable best practices • Manage and supervise BU’s Environmental subordinates • Ensure continuous stakeholder engagement • Identify and implement best practical environmental practices • Manage BU’s management systems and ensure continuous improvement • Promote and raise awareness at all levels of the organisation of the impact of mining and related activities • Participate in environmental training and awareness • Ensure that service level agreements are in place and updated • Manage environmental contractors • Manage environmental projects • Identify Environmental risks and determine the impact they may have on the business • Monitor Environmental behaviour in line with expectations • Facilitate the identification and assessment of all Environmental Risks • Implement and Monitor rehabilitation objectives • Implement monitoring and measurement programs • Ensure management reviews and continuous improvement • Coordinate Environmental Awareness initiatives (internal and external) • Develop and update Environmental training materials • Facilitate internal and external audit • Ensure incident investigation are conducted • Drive Management of Change process • Set site objectives in line with Cooperate Milestones and Risk • Assessments • Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies • Ensure environmental management plans are in place in-line with milestones, regulatory requirements, best practices, and risk assessments • Update environmental risk assessments • Manage SOPs / COPs • Ensure control and management of documents. Environmental Incidents: • Investigate Environmental Incidents and participate in investigations Environmental Audits: • Develop and Implement Audit schedule and ensure audits are conducted as per schedule • Follow-up on Audit findings • Participate in cross-site Environmental Audits Environmental Reports: • Consolidate Environmental statistics and information • Report on Site Environmental Performance to all key stakeholders External and Internal Influences: • Identify interested parties’ needs and expectations. GROWTH: • Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence • Identify potential external partners for Environmental improvement projects • Standardise Environmental management systems and processes across Business Units. SHAREHOLDER VALUE: • Regulatory compliance • Conformance to internal environmental requirements • Cost control • Maintain good company reputation.
