Senior Web Developer (Cape Town / Pretoria) HYBRID

Introduction

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Web Developer to join their team and play a key role in the development, enhancement and maintenance of enterprise-grade web applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with Business Analysts and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and user-friendly technical solutions. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality software, troubleshooting complex production issues and contributing to continuous improvement across the development environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance and develop new functionality and software components.

• Translate business requirements, use cases and user stories into effective technical solutions.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers and cross-functional teams.

• Refactor and optimise code to improve performance, scalability and maintainability.

• Develop and maintain enterprise-grade web applications.

• Conduct unit, integration and functional testing.

• Design, develop and consume RESTful APIs and web services.

• Perform root cause analysis on defects and production issues.

• Diagnose application performance and transactional issues using application and activity logs.

• Participate in build, packaging, deployment and release processes across environments.

• Contribute to development standards, architectural patterns and best practices.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• Apply secure development principles and address web-based security vulnerabilities.

• Participate in Agile and/or Waterfall SDLC processes.

• Senior candidates may be required to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field , OR Matric with 5+ years of hands-on development experience in a custom software development environment.

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Developer within a multi-tier .NET application environment.

• Minimum 5 years' front-end development experience using relevant modern technologies.

• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET / .NET Core .

• Strong experience developing enterprise-grade web applications.

• Experience with Angular 6+ , JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

• Strong knowledge of ASP.NET, HTML5, CSS, XML and TypeScript .

• Experience with React will be advantageous.

• Strong understanding and practical experience with RESTful APIs , JSON and XML.

• Experience with SOAP and REST web services .

• Knowledge of web application security principles, including the OWASP Top 10 .

• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases , particularly Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.

• Experience with IIS 7+ .

• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman and SoapUI .

• Experience with source/version control systems such as Git, Azure DevOps Repos, Visual SourceSafe or similar.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft development tools, including Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) .

• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) .

• Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall development environments.

Azure Cloud Experience – Advantageous

Experience with Microsoft Azure will be highly advantageous, particularly:
