Senior Water & Wastewater Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil or Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work across technically complex projects while coordinating multidisciplinary teams, supporting clients, and providing technical leadership from design through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Perform hydraulic calculations, pipeline sizing, and pump station design.

• Develop technical specifications, engineering reports, and tender documentation.

• Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and structural interfaces.

• Review designs and provide technical quality assurance.

• Support procurement, contractor engagement, and technical evaluations.

• Undertake construction monitoring, site inspections, and commissioning support.

• Manage budgets, programmes, risks, and allocated project work packages.

• Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

• Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and graduates.

• Contribute to innovative and digitally enabled engineering solutions.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

• ECSA Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer registration preferred.

• 6–9 years' relevant experience in water and wastewater infrastructure.

• Proven experience with Water Treatment Works and Wastewater Treatment Works.

• Experience with bulk water pipelines, rising mains, sewer reticulation, and outfall systems.

• Experience in pump stations, booster pump stations, reservoirs, and storage facilities.

• Desalination and water reuse experience would be advantageous.

• Experience in design reviews, tender documentation, construction support, and commissioning.

• Strong technical, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.

• Sound commercial awareness and project management capabilities.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Technical Skills

• Autodesk Civil 3D.

• Revit.

• EPANET / WaterCAD.

• Bentley HAMMER / HammerCAD.

• iDAS.

• WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS would be advantageous.

• Autodesk Construction Cloud.

• Microsoft Office Suite.
