- Knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies prescripts and procedures. Knowledge of Batho Pele principles and the public servant's code of conduct. High level of reliability and confidentiality.
- Language skills and ability to communicate well with people at different levels and different backgrounds. Good interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy in MS Office Package Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and internet proficiency. Planning and organising. Analytical; Database Management; Report writing; Interpersonal skills; Problem solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work under pressure and meet deadlines. A valid driver's license.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 plus a National Diploma/Undergraduate in Administration and minimum 1-2 experience an added advantage.
DUTIES
- Assist with human resource development matters. Logistical duties and supervision of general workers. Provide administrative support to the state veterinary office.
- Manage and maintain files, registers, records and databases. Capture and update animal-health information and statistics. Prepare reports, correspondence, minutes and other official documents.
- Assist with planning and coordinating veterinary programmes and activities. Arrange and coordinate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements. Assist with procurement and financial administration, including requisitions, invoices and expenditure records. Monitor and manage office equipment, supplies and assets.
- Assist veterinary personnel with logistical arrangements for field visits, inspections and animal-health campaigns. Communicate with farmers, livestock owners, veterinary staff and other government officials. Maintain confidentiality and ensure that government policies, procedures and legislation are followed.
- Assist with data collection, monitoring and reporting on animal-health activities. Provide support during animal-disease control programmes and campaigns where required. Perform general administrative duties and any other tasks delegated by the supervisor.
