Senior Technical Support Engineer

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Support Engineer to join our technology team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise

infrastructure and business-critical systems across virtualization, end-user computing, Microsoft

platforms, databases, and cybersecurity environments. This permanent role is based at our

operations within Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Mayville, Durban.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide support for enterprise infrastructure and business-critical applications.

• Administer and support VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments to

ensure high availability and optimal performance.

• Manage and maintain Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory,

Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.

• Support and administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Server, Exchange Online, Teams and

related collaboration technologies.

• Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.

• Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex technical incidents

• Implement and maintain security controls, vulnerability remediation programmes and

access management processes.

• Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, system implementations and disaster recovery

testing initiatives.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures and

operational standards.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across support teams.

• Participate in change management, release management and continuous improvement

initiatives.

• Proactively research, assess and recommend technology solutions, technical practices,

standards and policies that align with industry advancements and business needs.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Degree, Diploma or Certification in Information Technology, Computer Science or

related field.

• Minimum 10 years' experience in IT infrastructure and technical support roles.

• Minimum 5 years' experience supporting and administering VMware, VDI and Microsoft

enterprise platforms.

• Proven experience operating within complex, multi-site enterprise environments.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates holding one or more of the following certifications will have a distinct advantage:

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

• Microsoft 365 Administrator Certification

• ITIL Foundation

• CompTIA Security+

• CISSP (Advantageous)
