We’re looking for a skilled Senior Software Developer to join a development team responsible for maintaining, enhancing and developing business-critical software solutions. This is an opportunity to work across web applications, backend services, databases and system integrations, while playing an important role in improving software performance, quality and reliability.

Duties & Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
Develop, maintain and enhance web-based applications, backend services and software components.
Translate business requirements into practical, reliable and maintainable technical solutions.
Troubleshoot complex software defects, investigate root causes and implement effective fixes.
Develop and optimise SQL queries, database objects and data-processing functionality.
Build and maintain APIs and integrations between applications and third-party systems.
Improve application performance, security, stability and code quality.
Conduct unit, integration and regression testing to ensure changes work as expected.
Participate in code reviews, version control and controlled software releases.
Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge sharing within the development team.
Collaborate with project managers, support consultants and business stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, reduce technical debt and streamline development processes.
Desired Experience & Qualification
What we’re looking for
A relevant qualification in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
At least 10 years’ experience developing and maintaining business software applications .
Strong programming skills and experience working with existing codebases.
Practical experience developing web applications and backend services.
Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
Experience developing and maintaining APIs and system integrations.
Proficiency in Git or an equivalent version-control platform.
Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with automated testing, code reviews and controlled software releases.
The ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
Technical skills that will give you an advantage
Experience with the following technologies would be beneficial
C#
PHP
SQL
JavaScript
HTML and CSS
ASP.NET Core
Angular or React
Additional experience with legacy systems, application performance optimisation, mobile application integrations, automated deployment tools or business applications such as workforce management, scheduling, time and attendance, access control, HR or payroll systems would be advantageous.
Package & Remuneration
R 80k - R 95k per month
