Senior Software Developer (Angular & Java) - 6 Month Contract

Introduction

Our client, a leading organisation within the banking sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer (Angular & Java) to join their technology team on a 6-month contract.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the modernisation and enhancement of customer and staff-facing digital platforms, with a strong focus on Angular application upgrades, Java-based integrations, security implementations, and cloud-based deployments.

This is a hands-on senior development role suited to a skilled full-stack developer with strong experience in Angular, Java, enterprise integrations, authentication solutions, and cloud technologies within a highly regulated environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Angular Development & Modernisation

• Lead the upgrade and migration of Angular applications from Angular 14 to Angular 21.

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain customer-facing and staff portal applications.

• Ensure optimal application performance, scalability, and maintainability.

• Implement modern Angular best practices, coding standards, and reusable component development.

• Collaborate with UX/UI teams to deliver seamless and responsive user experiences.

Java Development & Integration

• Develop and maintain Java-based backend services and APIs.

• Create and optimise endpoints that facilitate communication between front-end applications and backend systems.

• Design and implement secure integration solutions across multiple banking platforms.

• Support high-volume transaction processing and mission-critical applications.

Security & Identity Management

• Drive the implementation of enterprise security controls and authentication frameworks.

• Integrate applications with Ping Identity, Single Sign-On (SSO), and related identity management solutions.

• Ensure compliance with banking security standards, governance requirements, and best practices.

• Support secure API development and integration initiatives.

Cloud & Deployment

• Manage and support deployments within AWS environments.

• Work closely with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.

Business & Platform Integration

• Develop solutions supporting lead management, proposal generation, client onboarding, and pre-onboarding processes.

• Integrate banking systems with digital signing platforms, including Signing Hub, document management systems, and internal and external service platforms.

• Participate in solution design and architecture discussions.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers.

• Contribute to architecture and design decisions.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA teams, and key stakeholders.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and software delivery planning.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of software development experience.

• 5+ years of Angular development experience.

• Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using Java.

• Proven experience upgrading Angular applications across major versions, particularly Angular 14 and newer versions.

• Strong experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and REST API integration.

• Strong Java, Spring Boot, RESTful Services, and Microservices Architecture experience.

• Experience with enterprise application integration and API development.

• Experience with Ping Identity, Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth2, JWT, and authentication and authorisation frameworks.

• Experience working with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with Git.

• Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes will be advantageous.

• Experience with Document Management Systems and Signing Hub integrations will be advantageous.

• Experience within banking, financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry will be highly advantageous.

• Relevant Angular, Java, AWS, or Cloud certifications will be advantageous.

• Strong enterprise integration and identity management experience will be advantageous.
