Introduction

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer with a minimum of six years' commercial software development experience and a proven history of delivering successful software projects from inception to production. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex business challenges, takes ownership of their work, and consistently delivers high-quality, maintainable software.

Technical capability is important, but it is not the only measure of success. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for building great software. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, accountable, dependable, and committed to delivering results. They should be someone who finishes what they start and takes pride in the quality of their work.

Rather than someone who has simply worked with many technologies, we are interested in a developer who has successfully delivered multiple production systems and can demonstrate the impact those solutions had on the business and its users.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions.

• Lead or contribute to technical design and architectural decisions.

• Deliver projects from requirements gathering through deployment and support.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.

• Mentor junior developers and collaborate with stakeholders.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.

• Proven experience in software development, with proficiency in one or more of the following languages: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript .

• Strong understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, testing, debugging, and version control using Git .

• Experience designing, developing, documenting, and integrating RESTful APIs .

• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases .

• Familiarity with Agile software-development methodologies.

• Ability to translate business requirements into reliable, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is becoming an important part of modern software development. Candidates should understand how AI technologies can be applied to solve practical business problems.

Relevant knowledge or experience may include

• Large Language Models and generative AI applications

• AI APIs and intelligent automation

• Prompt engineering

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation, or RAG

• AI-assisted knowledge and search systems

• Responsible, secure, and ethical AI implementation

Cybersecurity

Candidates should understand that security must be incorporated throughout the software-development lifecycle.

Relevant knowledge or experience should include

• Secure software-development practices

• Secure API design and authentication

• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JSON Web Tokens

• OWASP Top 10 risks and mitigation techniques

• Encryption and secure data handling

• Protection of sensitive information and access credentials

API Development and Integration

Strong API development and integration skills are essential for the position.

Candidates should have experience with

• Designing and developing RESTful APIs

• Integrating third-party services and platforms

• Creating and maintaining API documentation using OpenAPI or Swagger

• Developing or working with microservice-based systems

• API authentication, authorization, security, performance, and error handling

Technical Experience

Experience in several of the following areas is expected

• C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript

• Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform

• SQL and NoSQL databases

• Docker and Kubernetes

• Continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines
