Introduction

Our client is a retail and manufacturing group.Their retail division runs 6 stores (with more

opening soon) across the Western Cape, on Sigma and IQ Retail. They are looking for a Pillar 1 Accountant to own the systems, revenue and operational control side of retail finance.

Duties & Responsibilities

The role

Own POS & Sigma governance across all stores — VAT mapping, tender configuration, user

permissions, technical integrity checks (structure, allocations, environment), stock walk imports.

Drive daily revenue and cash control — POS clearing zero-balance by EOD, cash-up reconciliations

across all stores, cash and float variance investigation, weekly GP report.

Lead the Admin Manager and Cash Office (Marina). Drive daily cadence, support the wider

team, be visible across stores.

Cross-verify with Pillar 2 on cash clearing (daily), POS VAT mapping (quarterly), asset additions, weekly

GP and trade payables age analysis.

Support new store openings on the systems side — Sigma setup, tender config, POS integrity, admin

training.

Chart of accounts applications and new-contract setup (e.g. Lotto); prepare the monthly budget

forecast.

What we're looking for

BCom Accounting or equivalent (NQF 7+). SAIPA/CIMA articles or completed studies an advantage.

5+ years' finance experience, with at least 2 years in a retail / multi-store environment. Team leadership

experience essential.

Sigma retail experience strongly preferred. Candidates with strong equivalent POS/back-office

experience (IQ Retail, GAAP, Arch) considered if the underlying skills are there.

Strong on POS technical integrity, VAT mapping, tender configuration, cash-up and revenue

reconciliation, GP reporting.

Working knowledge of EasyAcc and Xfilo an advantage.

Comfortable operating within clear control boundaries — this role owns systems integrity, not

payment/journal authority; that separation is deliberate and non-negotiable.

Advanced Excel; SA tax fundamentals (VAT); driver's licence; clear credit and criminal record.
