Job Title: Senior Proposal Engineer Start Date: 2026-08-14 - 2026-09-13 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB002880 Sectors: Engineering Environmental & Solar Location: Gauteng , JHB - Central Salary: (Market related) Brief: engineer|engineering|proposal engineer Purpose of the Position The Senior Proposal Engineer is responsible for preparing and submitting comprehensive and competitive proposals for HV substation and overhead line (OHL) projects . The role involves coordinating with internal departments, understanding client requirements, developing technical solutions, preparing cost estimates and ensuring proposals comply with company standards, project requirements and client specifications. Detail: Minimum Requirements NQF Level 7/8 qualification in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BTech) . 3–5 years' experience in engineering and project delivery within the Transmission and Distribution sector Professional Engineer registration is advantageous, or relevant post-qualification engineering experience Contract management training would be advantageous Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Proven ability to solve complex technical and commercial problems Ability to independently lead proposal execution activities Strong commitment to professional development Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals Interpret client requirements and specifications Develop technical solutions in collaboration with engineering teams Prepare detailed cost estimates covering equipment, materials, labour and project execution Compile technical, commercial and supporting proposal documentation Ensure proposals comply with client requirements, standards and regulations Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance and Legal Engage with clients regarding technical requirements and queries Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits Conduct project risk and opportunity assessments Manage proposal submissions and ensure deadlines are met Participate in post-bid clarifications and negotiations Conduct market and competitor research Develop engineering scoping documentation Consider contractual, SHERQ and stakeholder requirements during proposal development Develop concept designs and supporting documentation Review designs for compliance with applicable standards and client specifications Key Competencies Critical thinking Initiative and problem-solving Strong time management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Adaptability and resilience Customer-focused approach Strong ethical judgement Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment show more...
