SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (PR ENG) - SOLAR PV & BESS

Introduction

Our client, a leading renewable energy business, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the engineering design, technical delivery and execution of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This is a senior technical role suited to an experienced engineer with a strong background in renewable energy and a proven track record of taking projects from design through to execution and commissioning and managing a team.

Please note, this is an office based position.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering design and technical delivery of C&I Solar PV and BESS projects.

• Manage engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to construction and commissioning.

• Develop and review technical designs, specifications, calculations and engineering documentation.

• Ensure projects comply with relevant South African engineering standards, regulations and industry requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, contractors, suppliers and clients.

• Oversee technical quality and ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements.

• Assist with project planning, execution and commissioning activities.

• Engage with clients and key stakeholders to understand requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.

• Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout project execution.

• Review and approve engineering documentation and technical submissions where required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BEng/BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or a related equivalent qualification.

• ECSA - registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) – essential.

• Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience within Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV projects, with BESS exposure being advantageous.

• Demonstrated experience across engineering design, project delivery, implementation and commissioning of renewable energy projects.

• Strong ability to manage key stakeholders and maintain effective client relationships.

• Comprehensive understanding of applicable South African engineering standards, regulations and compliance requirements.

• Previous experience managing and leading engineering/project teams.

• Based in, or able to reasonably commute to, Somerset West, Western Cape.
