Senior Project Engineer - Hydraulics & Pneumatics

Introduction

Our client that is a well-established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer  to join its Engineering Department in Boksburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing customised hydraulic and pneumatic systems and managing engineering projects from initial costing and planning through to installation and commissioning.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design customised hydraulic and pneumatic systems according to customer requirements.

• Interpret engineering drawings, sketches and technical diagrams.

• Prepare technical and commercial quotations for customers.

• Plan workflows and material requirements to maximise operational efficiency.

• Modify equipment and processes to improve cost and resource efficiency.

• Oversee and inspect manufacturing and production processes.

• Analyse, estimate and report on project costs.

• Compile operational data and develop project estimates, schedules and specifications.

• Monitor and control project-related inventory.

• Oversee the installation of equipment and systems.

• Commission equipment and systems when required.

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• Resolve technical problems and respond to customer queries.

• Assist with the management of the Engineering Department.

• Mentor and support junior engineers.

• Ensure full compliance with the organisation’s SHEQ Management System.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• B-Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• 5–10 years’ experience within an engineering or project management environment.

• 5–7 years’ experience in hydraulic and pneumatic system design is essential.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor is essential.

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Working knowledge of SYSPRO.

• Willingness to travel throughout South Africa and into Africa.
