About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to take full ownership of end-to-end project management across commercial, industrial, and large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. In this role, you will lead high-impact projects, manage contract budgets and timelines, and successfully navigate relationships with demanding EPC contractors and corporate clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Delivery: Take full ownership and lead project delivery, timelines, site management, and contract budgets from award through commissioning.

• Contractor & Client Management: Interface confidently with high-profile corporate clients and lead, direct, and hold accountable EPC contractors and suppliers.

• Contract Negotiations & Oversight: Oversee and manage standard engineering and construction contracts (including FIDIC and JBCC frameworks). Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to ensure optimal delivery.

• Construction & Technical Oversight: Direct on-site construction oversight, coordinate with engineering teams on technical specifications, and ensure strict quality and safety compliance.

• Commercial & Proposal Support: Assist in preparing technical and financial proposals, creating Bills of Materials (BOM), project design inputs, and client presentations.

• Process Improvement: Continuously refine contract management and project execution workflows to maximize outcomes for clients and investors.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: B.Sc / B.Eng / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

• Experience:

• Strong hands-on experience in project engineering and senior project management within the engineering/construction sector.

• Demonstrated expertise in Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) (highly advantageous).

• Direct hands-on site management and site supervision experience.

• Contractual Knowledge: Practical experience managing FIDIC and JBCC contracts.

• Contractor & Stakeholder Skills: High emotional intelligence and confidence to negotiate, assert influence, and manage difficult EPC contractors and demanding client stakeholders.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with MS365 suite; experience with quoting, estimating, and compiling Bills of Materials (BOM) in the electrical sector.

• Mobility: Willingness and capability to travel to remote project sites across South Africa and the Southern African region as needed.
