Senior Phase Head

Key performance areas

• Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes, setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement
• Manage the phase administration and academics, including annual and termly plans and timetables, staff duties, tutoring classes, communication, scholarships and budgeting
• Manage the phase curriculum via pre- and post-rollout reviews, checks and moderation
• Plan and manage assessments formal and continuous and homework, including rosters, moderation, revision and supervision
• Manage and mentor grade heads, including interviews, appraisals and mediation
• Manage interventions and discipline according to Curro policies and procedures and the code of conduct
• Plan and manage events
• Plan and manage classroom/learning environment design and set-up for optimal performance

Qualifications, experience and skills

• BEd, BA, or BSc degree and/or PGCE in FET, with a management diploma advantageous
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a departmental head, with experience as a grade or subject head advantageous
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proven management and leadership skills
• Ability to lead and mentor other teachers
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends and to be involved in school activities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• SACE-registered
• Clear criminal record
