Senior Operations Engineer - German Speaking

Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Engineer to support the stability, resilience and performance of complex global IT environments.

German-speaking proficiency is essential for this position.

Location: Menlyn, Pretoria

Working model: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office

Contract: 3 years, renewable

Eligibility: South African citizens and valid work permit holders only

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain infrastructure and platform stability, availability and performance

• Lead technical troubleshooting sessions during escalations and major incidents

• Coordinate global IT emergency exercises

• Manage Problem Management tickets through to resolution

• Identify recurring operational issues and drive sustainable improvements

• Collaborate with global infrastructure, cloud and application teams

• Strengthen IT operational processes and service delivery

• Support incident, problem and change management activities

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• German-speaking proficiency – essential

• Minimum 8 years’ IT experience

• Minimum 6 years’ IT operations experience

• Strong practical knowledge of ITIL processes

• Solid IT Service Management and IT process knowledge

• Experience supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments

• Good understanding of AWS and Microsoft Azure

• Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology or equivalent experience

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have broad infrastructure knowledge across

• Servers and virtualisation

• Networks and data centres

• Storage, NAS, SAN and archive technologies

• Cloud platforms

• Middleware and web environments

• SAP and MQS environments

• Oracle and PostgreSQL databases

• ITSM tools and operational monitoring

Advantageous Experience

• ITIL certification

• DevOps or Agile environments

• IT governance

• Project management

• Global or multinational IT operations

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability

• Excellent communication and coordination skills

• Comfortable working with international technical teams
