- To conduct and analyse the tax compliance behaviour across the taxpayer base with the view to inform the recommendation of integrated, complex full scope risk profiling cases, for Enforcement intervention.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma NQF 7 in Taxation/Finance/Accounting/Auditing and Economics with 5–7 years' experience in compliance risk or customs, tax, risk profiling, audit, and investigation environment, of which 2–3 years must be at a technically skilled level.

- Senior Certificate NQF 4 and 10 years' related experience in compliance risk or customs, tax, risk profiling, audit, and investigation environment, of which 2–3 years must be at a technically skilled level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
- Pre Lim Investigations: 2-3 years' experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, customs, investigation, forensic, anti-money laundering, cross-border payments, data analytics, fintech, digital payments or related compliance risk environment.
- Exposure to one or more of the following areas will be advantageous: customs and tax risk analysis, cross-border payments, transfer pricing, customs valuation, illicit financial flows, trade-based money laundering, fintech/digital payments, crypto asset transactions, data matching or complex non-compliance risk profiling.
- Ability to review and interpret selected financial, tax, customs or third-party information to identify possible risk indicators and support preliminary risk confirmation, referral or closure recommendations.
- Experience in financial crime risk analysis will be advantage.

- Accumulate information to review work progress that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.

- Identify and assess the level of non-compliance across all/multiple tax types.
- Identify and resolve queries and problems timeously, apply discretion in line with process guidelines provided.
- Identify tax evasion schemes and potential risk and recommend legal interventions.
- Identify, analyse and interpret non-compliance in order to profile high complex full scope cases for enforcement.
- Initiate process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
- Plan for value-added process improvements, initiatives and services to deliver on operational strategy and objectives.
- Profiling of relevant identified parties to detect non-compliance and related risks.
- Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process, product and risk optimisation.
- Review of TCC-FIA and Emigration applications above R 10 million and make recommendations.
- Analyse and match selected data from multiple sources, including tax returns, VAT information, customs declarations, third party data, financial records, invoices, agreements and payment records information to identify possible risk indicators.
- Conduct preliminary risk testing on selected samples to determine whether suspected non-compliance risks are supported by evidence before a risk confirmation report and risk profile is prepared.
- Prepare clear risk observations, risk confirmation reports, closure rationales or referral recommendations to support full-scope risk profiling and appropriate audit, investigation or compliance intervention.
