Senior ODI / ETL Engineer

Introduction

A leading financial institution is seeking an experienced Senior ODI / ETL Engineer to support the modernisation and refactoring of a large-scale legacy data integration environment.

The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in migrating and optimising the organisation's data integration backbone from Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c to ODI 14c , ensuring pipeline compatibility, data integrity, and high-performance batch processing against Oracle Database 19c targets.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the export, import, migration, and structural schema upgrade of ODI 12c Master and Work Repositories to the ODI 14c infrastructure.

• Assess and audit the existing ETL/ELT codebase to identify deprecated or legacy ODI 12c components.

• Replace deprecated Knowledge Modules (KMs) with optimised ODI 14c equivalents, including appropriate pushdown processing approaches.

• Configure and execute parallel/shadow data processing to populate target QA environments without disrupting active legacy production workloads.

• Rebuild and optimise complex ODI mappings, variables, sequences, packages, and Load Plans .

• Investigate and resolve data truncation, transformation, extraction, and loading issues.

• Analyse ETL/ELT processing performance and implement improvements to extraction and load runtimes.

• Develop and maintain robust batch-processing workflows aligned with enterprise data requirements.

• Apply advanced PL/SQL techniques to support complex data transformations and processing requirements.

• Support Change Data Capture (CDC) implementations and troubleshoot associated data integration issues.

• Perform detailed testing and reconciliation to ensure data integrity between source and target environments.

• Collaborate with database administrators, application teams, data engineers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex ODI production and migration issues.

• Ensure batch-processing workflows meet defined enterprise performance and SLA requirements.

• Document migration activities, technical configurations, performance improvements, and operational procedures.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• 7+ years of dedicated Oracle Data Integrator experience , covering ODI 11g, 12c, and 14c.

• Strong hands-on experience with ODI repository migration and upgrades .

• Expert-level PL/SQL development and troubleshooting skills.

• Deep practical knowledge of ETL/ELT architecture and batch processing .

• Strong experience with ODI Knowledge Modules (KMs), mappings, variables, sequences, packages, and Load Plans.

• Proven experience working with Change Data Capture (CDC) .

• Strong understanding of Oracle Database, particularly Oracle 19c .

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve data truncation, transformation, and data-quality issues.

• Proven experience tuning complex ETL/ELT workflows to meet demanding enterprise SLAs.

• Experience working in large-scale, enterprise or financial-services environments is highly advantageous.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
