Job Description

As the Senior Network & Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the performance, security, maintenance, and optimisation of network and server infrastructure across multiple business operations. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and maintaining LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity

• Monitoring infrastructure performance and proactively resolving issues before they impact users

• Configuring and supporting routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, access points, and firewalls

• Administering Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments

• Supporting hybrid infrastructure and cloud connectivity

• Implementing and maintaining network security controls and secure remote access solutions

• Managing Windows Server environments and virtualised infrastructure

• Overseeing backup strategies, disaster recovery readiness, and business continuity initiatives

• Leading infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and improvement projects

• Collaborating with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders

• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT professionals

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT Administration and Network Administration

• Strong networking expertise, including:

• TCP/IP

• DNS

• DHCP

• VLANs

• Routing protocols

• VPN technologies

Experience working with

• Firewalls

• Network switches

• Wireless infrastructure

• Mikrotik RouterOS

• Microsoft Active Directory

• Microsoft 365

• Exchange Online

• Azure Active Directory

• Hyper-V Virtualisation

• Windows Server 2019/2022

• Windows 10/11

• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and performance management tools

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of critical systems

• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Qualification

• Matric

• A+ and/or N+

• Microsoft Certification or Microsoft Engineer Certification

• MCITP

• Network Security+

• Diploma in IT Systems Administration (NQF Level 4/5) or similar qualification
