Senior .NET MAUI developer

Psybergate is an IT company that builds bespoke software solutions and provides highly skilled resources to its clients. We are looking for a Senior .NET MAUI Developer   to join a Cape Town-based development team on a contract opportunity based in Cape Town (hybrid) that will be building a new Android terminal application using .NET MAUI. Duties & Responsibilities

What you will be doing

• Design and build an Android terminal application using .NET MAUI .

• Develop features across the application from requirements and technical discussions through to implementation and on-device testing.

• Integrate the application with payment, fleet, mobile money and other back-end systems .

• Work with Android devices and hardware SDKs, including native Android interoperability.

• Test applications on physical terminals at the Cape Town offices.

• Take ownership of features from specification through development, testing and delivery.

• Contribute to application architecture and technical direction.

• Work independently with loosely defined requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

• Collaborate with other developers and technical stakeholders within the development team.

• Use modern AI coding tools to support development and productivity.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years' software development experience .

• Strong commercial experience with .NET and C# .

• Proven hands-on experience delivering applications using .NET MAUI or Xamarin.Forms .

• Strong Android development experience.

• Experience with Android native interoperability and hardware/device SDKs .

• Experience developing applications that interact with physical devices or terminals.

• Practical, day-to-day experience using AI coding tools , such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar.

• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions against loosely defined requirements.

• Experience contributing to technical design and application architecture.

Beneficial

• Experience in payments, POS or terminal applications .

• Knowledge of EMV, ISO 8583 or PCI .

• Experience with PAX, Ingenico, Verifone or similar terminal/device SDKs.

• Experience in fuel forecourt or retail automation .

• Experience designing offline-first applications or applications operating with intermittent connectivity.

• Experience with CI/CD for Android application deployment .

• Experience integrating mobile applications with payment, fleet or mobile money platforms.
