- Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning
- Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluation scores in accordance with the university's expectations.
Research
- Research outputs as to be discussed with programme leader and deputy director.
Community Engagement
- Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.
Minimum requirements
LECTURER
- An Honours degree in Accountancy NQF level 8.
- A member of CIMA or SAIPA or ACCA or AGASA.
- 3 years' experience in the field as an Accountant.
- 5 years' fulltime teaching experience at an accredited contact institution.
In addition to the above
SENIOR LECTURER
- A Master of Commerce in Accountancy or equivalent NQF level 9.
RECOMMENDATION
- Postgraduate supervision experience at Master's level.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of accountancy including accounting, auditing, management accounting, financial management and taxation.
- Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
- Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
- Interest in community service.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

REMUNERATION
- The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
