• The Faculty of Dentistry is a world-class Oral Health Centre committed to the promotion of oral health through excellence of its Teaching & Learning, service rendering and research.

• The Faculty seeks professionally qualified candidates with excellent records for a post on the joint establishment of the University of the Western Cape and the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, on the conditions of service of the University of the Western Cape.

Responsibilities will include

• Teaching and training on the combined platform ie. Appropriate training, supervision and general teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students,

• Rendering a radiological interpretation service to patients at all sites and supervising students on the Oral Health platform in the Western Cape,

• Active participation in research and publications,

• Participation in Faculty Outreach programmes,

• Administrative duties related to the post,

• Service rendering of patients at all sites.

The following would enhance an application

• Experience in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students,

• Ability to work in a team,

• Good interpersonal and communication skills, facilitation skills and planning and organisational skills.

Minimum Requirements

Appointment to this position requires the following

• A BChD / BDS, a Master's degree in Diagnostic Sciences and a PhD in Health Sciences

• At least 5 years clinical experience,

• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dentist,

• Evidence of teaching experience for a minimum of 4 years; research publications (min number of 4), research supervision/co-supervision (min 2 MSc or equivalent)

• Demonstrate expertise in advanced Diagnostic Radiography, including CBCT and CT.
