The incumbent will be responsible for the following
- Undertaking teaching, learning, and research, encompassing the development, coordination, and presentation of health financing, health systems operation, management, principles of quality assurance, research methodology and learning in public health modules;
- Providing dedicated supervision for MPH, MSc, and PhD students within the School of Health Systems and Public Health SHSPH;
- Fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and rigorous scholarly inquiry;
- Strengthening the School's research portfolio in Health Systems, Health Financing, Health Management and Health Economics;
- Engaging in collaborative research initiatives within the Faculty and across the University, as well as with local and international public health scientists;
- Securing research grants/funding to support research and postgraduate students;
- Enhancing the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
- Providing strategic, academic, and operational leadership within SHSPH;
- Playing an active role as an academic leader in the areas of Health Policy and Financing, Health Systems and Health Management;
- Developing and nurturing partnerships with local and international public health experts and institutions to advance research, teaching, and community engagement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- PhD with a focus on Health Financing or Health Systems and/or Policy;
- Minimum five 5 accredited publications preferably in the last 3 years and in ISI journals – some as first author;
- Conference papers as poster or oral presentation
- At least 2 postgraduate students supervised completed, preferably Masters level or higher;
- At least 3 years' teaching experience;
- Course/block coordinator or equivalent;
- Curriculum development/innovation

- Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Detail oriented;
- Innovation and critical thinking skills;
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES
- Experience of course/curriculum design at the postgraduate level;
- A background of having worked in an academic environment and/or research institution.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
