KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching and Learning

Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluation scores in accordance with the university's expectations.

Research

Research outputs are to be discussed with the programme leader and the deputy director.

Community Engagement

Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.

Minimum requirements

An Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent NQF Level 8.
A professional membership with the SAICA as a CASA.
A minimum of three 3 years' experience in the field as an Accountant.
A minimum of three 3 years' full-time teaching experience on a SAICA-endorsed programme.

RECOMMENDATIONS

A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of accountancy including accounting, auditing, management accounting, financial management and taxation.
Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
Interest in community service.
Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.
