- Teach the undergraduate and honours modules.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning
- Undergraduate and honours Chemistry modules.
Research
- Lead research and supervise students at the master's and doctoral levels.
Community Engagement
- Contribute to community engagement and support departmental administrative functions.
OHS
- Adhere to OHS protocols.
Administration
- Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.
Minimum requirements
- A PhD NQF level 10 in Physical or Analytical Chemistry.
- A minimum of two 2 years' lecturing experience.
- Post-graduate supervision and training experience.
RECOMMENDATION / ADDED ADVANTAGE
- Membership with the South African Chemical Institute.
- At least 1 publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Effective lecturing of undergraduate and post-graduate Physical or Analytical Chemistry theory courses at university level.
- Lead research and supervise students at master's and doctoral levels.
- The ability to run specialised equipment in the Chemistry research laboratory.
- The ability to carefully analyse data and use logic to address issues and problems at work.
- Participate in community and Industry projects.
- Excellent computer skills for teaching and learning, and administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills verbal and written.
- Good time management.
